RM Recruit are excited to be working with a Birmingham based organisation who are seeking a proactive Senior Finance Officer to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. Our client can provide a flexible, hybrid working arrangement with the office presence set at three days per week and two days working from home.
You will play a key part in ensuring strong financial governance, accurate forecasting, and compliance with internal and external financial regulations, supporting informed decision-making at both operational and strategic levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, monitor, and maintain accurate budget forecasts in line with university financial requirements, escalating issues and risks as appropriate.
- Produce timely, accurate budget and financial reports to support effective decision-making for projects and departmental operations.
- Work closely with budget holders to ensure budgets are managed effectively, providing clear financial advice and guidance where required.
- Investigate budget variances, identify areas of concern, and report financial issues to project managers or senior staff.
- Prepare detailed financial costings for new project bids and support the development of resource utilisation models and financial business plans.
- Lead project audits through to completion, ensuring full compliance with internal and external financial regulations.
- Maintain the financial integrity of project delivery by ensuring accurate coding and processing of all financial transactions, including journals and recharges.
- Support the development and implementation of enhanced financial controls and oversight mechanisms to improve the effectiveness, transparency, and accuracy of financial processes and reporting.
