About the Role

Assist the Director of Finance in managing all the financial aspects of the hotel. Make sure that all the local and corporate policies and procedures are respected and supervise the daily work of the accounting office.

What You Will Do
  • Maintain close and professional relationships with all the hotel departments and Home Office.
  • Respect and apply work rules and regulations of Four Seasons as stated in EmPact.
  • Plan, organize, schedule and manage various projects and activities amongst the finance team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Be able to supervise, lead and motivate the team and give them the appropriate support when needed.
  • Select employees and train on accounting standards in order to minimize turnover, maintain high morale and promote career development.
  • Lead monthly meeting with the team to maintain communication and resolve any outstanding issue.
  • Meet regularly with the Director of Finance to discuss anything accounting related or not that could affect the company results or the team.
Functional Skills
  • Good understanding and complete knowledge of the Four Seasons accounting and finance manual and Food and Beverage Control.
  • Good understanding of Month‑End process, including but not limited to financial statements, accruals and journal entries, maintain reconciliations for balance sheet accounts in established corporate formats and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Coordinate, review and maintain the beverage inventories following Four Seasons procedures with the Director of Purchasing and with the guidance of the Director of Finance.
  • Review the cash position of the hotel on a daily basis in order to optimize the use of funds and alert the Director of finance if there is any issue.
  • Prepare all financial statements, State and Federal revenue declarations or any other statement.
  • Oversee the preparation of all local, state and federal tax returns on a timely basis.
  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet and bank reconciliations on a monthly basis.
  • Review and verify all the payroll statements before the payments.
  • In partnership with Human Resources, make sure the payroll strictly follows the law regarding base salary, overtime, and benefits.
  • Maintain close relations with hotel’s internal and external auditors and ensure effective action necessary on all agreed upon recommendations.
Strategic Skills
  • Oversee and manage hotel expenses and solve all potential problems that could affect the hotel profitability and/or the guest experience.
  • Make sure the house banks are up to date, regularly audited and that any potential risk linked to their usage is limited.
  • Assist the Director of Finance with preparations of forecast and budget.
  • Monitor employee’s data to ensure incorrect or double payments are not processed.
  • Make sure payroll taxes are correctly collected, paid and declared on a timely basis.
What You Bring
  • Requires technical knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and all Four Seasons corporate policies and procedures as well as knowledge about accounting, purchasing and food and beverage control. Knowledge can be acquired through experience or through a series of professional certifications.
