- High School Diploma or equivalent required;
Bachelors’ Degree in Business, Finance, or related field preferred. - Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (reading, writing, and speaking) required.
- Minimum of 2 years’ office experience in customer service, administration, or like experience is required.
- Knowledge of or experience with residential mortgage processing, underwriting and/or closing procedures for conventional and government lending is a plus.
- Experience with Loan Origination Systems, such as Encompass, is preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with computer systems and software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
- Must be diligent and detail-oriented, with advanced organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with loan officers, borrowers, real estate agents, and third‑party vendors while building trust and confidence.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed instructions, correspondence, and documentation with strong grammar skills.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision and use sound judgment to solve problems.
The primary objective of the Loan Officer Assistant is to assist the Loan Officer and Processor in order to ensure loans are fully processed, submitted, approved, closed and funded with minimal involvement from the Loan Officer. The Loan Officer Assistant will work to obtain and review all client documents, review for accuracy and completeness, and assure that all supporting documentation is sufficient for the loan applications to advance to the subsequent steps through funding.
TheFollowing Duties Would Be Applicable
- Assist the Processor to ensure a client’s mortgage file is processed in a timely manner.
- Responsible for keeping clients updated throughout the mortgage process and answering questions they may have.
- Use existing systems to enable processing and communication on up to 50 client loan files at one time.
- Gather and review borrower information and financial documents to guide clients from pre‑approval through closing.
- Improve the quality of loan applications submitted and reduce the Loan Officer’s involvement in non‑origination tasks.
- Stay informed on loan statuses through reports and regular check‑ins with the Loan Officer and Processor.
- Handle administrative and processing tasks that allow the Loan Officer to focus on new business, relationship management, and strategic initiatives.
- Instill confidence in, and build trust with prospects, clients, real estate agents and other referral partners.
- Answer phone calls and check voicemail periodically to ensure timely response to customers.
- Adhere to all Federal and State regulations and follow proper code of ethics as outlined by the Company.
