Financial Accountant Manager - Hybrid Reed Accountancy & Finance are delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Financial Accountant Manager to join a dynamic public sector organisation. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for ensuring compliance with financial and taxation requirements, maximising resources, and supporting strategic decision-making. You will lead a small team, provide expert advice on accounting and indirect taxation, and contribute to the development of financial strategies that support organisational objectives.

Key Responsibilities Lead the preparation of revenue monitoring reports and working papers for annual accounts. Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and respond to audit queries. Identify financial risks and opportunities, advising senior leaders and elected members. Taxation Oversee VAT and other indirect taxation compliance, including timely and accurate returns. Manage relationships with external taxation advisors. Leadership & People Development Manage and develop a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Provide training and guidance to colleagues and budget managers Policy & Representation Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation and government policy affecting local government finance. Represent the organisation at regional and national forums. Your will be fully qualified accountant (CIPFA, ICAEW, ACCA, or CIMA) with at least 2 years post-qualification experience. This role would suit candidates with substantial experience in accounting processes, financial planning, and interpreting legislation within a large organisation.

Advanced spreadsheet skills and strong analytical ability. In addition, you will also have Strong leadership and people management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly. Knowledge of local government finance and taxation frameworks is preferred (or willingness to develop this knowledge). This is a hybrid role requiring two days working from the office and three working from home.
