Starting Salary: $79,310 - $90,537 (This represents the first five-steps of a seven-step salary grid. Candidate experience and internal equity will be considered when determining the starting salary)

The CMHA home office for this role is Newmarket, located at1101 Nicholson Road, Unit 5, Newmarket, ON L3Y 9C3 and incumbent may be required to travel to other CMHA Offices in York Region and South Simcoe as required.
Job Profile:
Reporting to the Senior Director Finance, this individual will have responsibility of the accounting, finance, business analysis and management decision support for the overall organization. This includes month and year-end accounting; reconciliations; monthly and quarterly management reporting; meaningful results analysis; government reporting; and annual audits for the organization and assigned programs. They will also play a role in business analysis and management decision support by creating and maintaining detailed budget and forecast models;
designing and providing valuable management reports and metrics; providing thorough analyses of results against budget and forecast; and provide expertise in compliance matters and business processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Corporate Finance & Technical Accounting:
- Supports the Senior Director, Finance in researching, developing, and documenting technical accounting memos and interpretations.
- Ensures financial statements accurately reflect the organization's financial position; prepares and posts entries at regular intervals.
- Aids in the preparation and filing of annual and periodic tax returns, including financial statements, statutory reports (CRA), and corporate tax filings.
- Collaborates with departments on reports and documents for MSAA, MOHLTC, OSP, CLHIN, and other funders.
- Ensures compliance with GAAP, CPA Ontario standards, MIS Guidelines, M-SAA, internal policies, and Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards (not-for-profit).
- Assists in preparing monthly and year-end audited financial statements.
- Reviews financial statements, reconciliations, and working papers prepared by junior staff.
- Responsible for internal and external reporting for assigned programs.
- Prepares financial documents for management and Board meetings.
- Works with clinical and administrative units on financial reporting.
- Evaluates and improves month-end and year-end close processes.
- Designs and generates key internal and external financial reports.
- Links financial planning processes to projects, service delivery, and departmental outputs; identifies cost-saving and revenue-generating opportunities.
- Prepares cash flow, working capital, and margin projections and analysis.
- Analyzes financial/statistical reports and takes remedial action on identified issues.
- Monitors and reconciles variances from the approved plan; supports corrective action to meet targets.
- Builds business cases to support management decisions.
- Prepares and presents financial reports as required.
