Payroll Specialist

Location:

Chesterfield, VA. Job Type: Full-Time. Work Arrangement:
Hybrid (Work from home 2 days per week after probationary period).

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to ensure the timely and accurate processing of company-wide payroll. This role is critical in maintaining compliance with tax regulations, benefits administration, and company policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process multi-state payroll for hourly and salaried employees using UKG payroll systems.
  • Ensure accurate tax treatment, accounting, and disposition of with holdings (taxes, benefits, 401K, etc.).
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll inquiries, resolving issues promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain payroll records and reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts monthly.
  • Generate payroll reports and ensure compliance with established control procedures.
  • Support the Payroll Manager and contribute to the success of the Accounting and Shared Services departments.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of in-house payroll management or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Payroll experience in the construction industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, payroll methods, Department of Labor regulations, and federal/multi-state tax regulations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly proficient in Excel; experience with ViewPoint preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work under pressure.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must pass qualification tests as required (including ERail Safe and other safety training).
Physical Demands
  • Primarily desk work with occasional walking, standing, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to work extended hours as workload dictates.
