The Financial Reporting and Control team are growing in response to the demands of a fast‑growing business and an increasingly demanding control and governance environment. Led by the Group Financial Reporting Manager who reports into the Head of Group Financial Reporting, the team sits alongside and works closely with the transactional finance teams (credit control and accounts payable) and other areas of business operations.

The team is ultimately responsible for the timely and accurate reporting of company numbers both internally and externally. This role provides an opportunity to work in the heart of a fast‑evolving and dynamic business, reporting accurate numbers and driving control change.

Success. The Softcat Way.

It’s an exciting time to be at Softcat, one of the UK’s most successful technology solutions businesses. We help customers to use technology to succeed, by putting our employees first. We’ve reached the £1 billion+ revenue milestone, opened our first office outside the UK and picked up a series of industry awards. We’ve got even bigger plans for the future. So, if you share our drive and ambition, get ready to achieve more from your career.

The successful candidate will be a key player in the Financial Reporting and Control team as well as the wider finance function of a thriving FTSE‑250 company. Driving the accuracy and timeliness of corporate reporting, internally and externally, this individual will live in the heart of the business. The team is growing quickly to adapt as the business grows and adds complexity and this is an exciting opportunity for someone wanting to get involved across all areas of the business and implement changes which ultimately improve reporting quality.

In this role there will be exposure to most areas of reporting, with a focus on our fast‑growing Cloud & Marketplace business and will work closely with various business operation functions.

As a Financial Reporting Lead (Cloud) you'll be responsible for:

  • Own the delivery and evolution of accounting, reporting and finance processes for cloud and consumption‑based revenue & cost recognition.
  • Along with the other Finance Leads, assist the Group Finance Manager in the overall leadership and development of the Financial Reporting team.
  • Providing timely and accurate management accounts, variance analysis, balance sheet assurance and key controls directly and via members of the financial reporting and Cloud Billing teams.
  • Act as the accounting and reporting workstream lead in the End‑to‑End Cloud Billing project.
  • Provide appropriate support to stakeholders/projects across Softcat with the design and implementation of new/change initiatives.

We’d love you to have:

  • Over two years’ post‑qualification experience in industry, with a recognised accounting qualification.
  • Strong technical accounting and analytical skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex topics.
  • Demonstrable experience in driving process improvement.
  • Confidence working with large datasets and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong finance system and process review aptitude.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders and motivate others.

We also acknowledge the confidence gap and imposter syndrome are a real thing and can get in the way of us meeting fantastic talent, so please don’t hesitate to apply – we would love to hear from you!

Work in a way that works for you

We recognise that everyone is different and that the way in which people want to work and deliver at their best is different for everyone too. In this role, we can offer the following flexible working patterns:

  • Hybrid working – 3 days per week in the office and 2 days working from home.
  • Working flexible hours – flexing the times you start and finish during the day.
  • Flexibility around school pick‑up and drop‑offs.
