Commercial Manager (PMCM Build) – WSP

At WSP, opportunities for growth and impact are abundant. Join our PMCM Education team to support the commercial delivery, performance and compliance of the Department for Education Technical Advisory Services Framework and similar clients.

As Commercial Manager, you will work collaboratively with the Framework Management Team and project teams, analysing costs and ensuring projects are completed within budget. Your role will support cost control, financial reporting, and contract administration.

• Monitoring project budgets, tracking expenditure, and reporting deviations from projected costs.
• Generating regular financial reports that highlight cost performance and variances.
• Supporting the implementation of cost control measures to maintain project budgets and enhance profitability.
• Maintaining accurate and detailed records of project costs, contracts, and financial transactions.
• Working closely with team members, project managers, and engineers to ensure effective cost management on projects.
• Assisting in forecasting future costs and financial impacts for ongoing projects.
• Assisting in the change control process, preparing quotations for change requests and adjusting the budget and forecast where necessary.
• Procurement management for external subcontractors.
• Creating applications for payments.
• Raising monthly invoices to clients.
• Liaising with clients regarding spend profiles and monthly reporting requirements.
• Ensuring projects meet internal and external governance requirements.

• Previous experience in cost management or a similar role in the construction industry.
• A focused approach with attention to detail, and knowledge of using financial software (Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Good organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
• A collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

You will be part of a driven and productive team of cost managers and quantity surveyors, with support for learning and development. You will develop a deep understanding of financial project management from inception to completion and gain experience on a variety of projects and contractual arrangements.
