We're a well established and growing construction business seeking a Senior Purchase Ledger Clerk to join our finance team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands on ledger work but is also ready to support and guide others. You'll play a key part in ensuring the smooth running of our accounts payable function, with additional responsibility for supervising junior team members and overseeing CIS compliance.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Managing the end to end purchase ledger process, ensuring invoices are processed accurately and on time
  • Overseeing supplier accounts, reconciling statements, and resolving queries promptly
  • Ensuring full compliance with CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) requirements, including verification and monthly returns
  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the purchase ledger team, helping to allocate workloads and maintain high standards
  • Working closely with site teams, project managers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth financial operations
  • Assisting with month end processes, reporting, and ledger reviews
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and strengthen internal controls
What you'll need to succeed
  • Strong experience in a purchase ledger role
  • Solid working knowledge of CIS and subcontractor payments
  • Confident communicator with the ability to build strong relationships across the business
  • Experience supervising or supporting junior team members (formal management experience not essential, but a natural leader is a plus)
  • High attention to detail and a proactive, problem solving mindset
  • Strong IT skills, including Excel and finance systems
