Sr. Accountant

Our client is looking for a Senior Accountant to join their team in Coquitlam, British Columbia. This is a contract position with the potential for long-term placement and excellent opportunities for growth. The role involves working in a hybrid environment, transitioning from remote work to a mix of in-office and remote days in the coming months. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing accounting functions and ensuring accurate financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct monthly financial close processes, including preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports.

• Review and verify general ledger entries for accuracy and compliance.

• Analyze financial statements and provide insights on variances compared to budget and prior periods.

• Support budgeting and forecasting activities by collaborating with the FP& A team and presenting financial trends and performance metrics.

• Interact with external auditors and internal teams to address inquiries and ensure compliance with accounting standards.

• Perform research to recommend appropriate accounting treatments for complex transactions.

• Develop and enhance processes to improve operational efficiency and ensure proper accounting practices.

• Assist in integrating accounting systems and processes for newly acquired entities.

• Manage account reconciliations and maintain detailed records within designated areas of responsibility.

• Collaborate with management and cross-functional teams to achieve departmental objectives.
