Overview
We're hiring experienced Mortgage Underwriters to support our broker channel and help drive high‑quality, compliant loan decisions. This role focuses on reviewing loan files, assessing risk, and ensuring alignment with FHA, VA, and Conventional guidelines.
Must have RECENT experience in the last 2 years of Underwriting.
Remote - certain state restrictions.
What You'll Do- Underwrite FHA, VA, and Conventional loans with accuracy and speed.
- Review credit, income, assets, and full loan documentation.
- Partner with loan structure and income teams to finalize approvals.
- Underwrite 2‑3 initial files and 6‑8 final approvals daily (volume dependent).
- Ensure compliance with investor and agency standards (FHA, HUD, VA, IRRRL, SAR, Trumps
ID). - Issue timely approval/denial decisions and resolve outstanding conditions.
- Strong mortgage underwriting experience (FHA preferred).
- Deep understanding of agency/investor guidelines.
- Ability to work within a structured, end‑to‑end underwriting workflow.
- Strong communication and documentation review skills.
Skills & Qualifications
- 3+ years of mortgage underwriting experience required.
- Solid knowledge of mortgage underwriting and of basic automated underwriting systems.
- Proficiency with basic automated underwriting systems.
Intermediate Level.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based in Charlotte, NC. This is a fully remote position.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $31.25 - $31.25/hr.
