Finance Assistant, Financial Analyst
Location: Stoke-on-Trent
Jigsaw Finance is seeking a reliable and detail-focused Payroll Officer / Accounts Assistant to support key finance and administrative functions across the business. The role has three core areas of responsibility: payroll processing, HR administration, and account reconciliation. This position is essential to ensuring accurate financial records, compliant payroll operations, and effective HR support. The role will suit someone who is organised, methodical, and comfortable handling confidential information.
Attention to detail is the main requirement as training will be provided on all aspects of the role, so this may suit someone who is looking to make a move into a Finance, HR or Payroll role.

Responsibilities Payroll- Assist with the end-to-end Sage payroll process on a monthly basis
- Process starters, leavers, salary changes, bonuses, and deductions
- Ensure compliance with PAYE, NI, pension auto-enrolment, and statutory payments
- Respond to employee payroll queries accurately and professionally
- Maintain accurate employee records in line with GDPR requirements
- Support onboarding and offboarding processes
- Assist with HR documentation including contracts, amendments, and policy updates
- Support business leaders with HR advice and support
- Support absence management and holiday records
- Perform regular bank and account reconciliations
Reconcile creditor and debtor account transactions - Liaise with Finance and external providers to resolve discrepancies
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Competent using Microsoft Excel and finance or payroll systems
- Ability to handle confidential information appropriately
- Previous experience in an accounts, payroll, or finance support role
- Understanding of UK payroll and basic accounting principles
- Experience using People
HR and/or Sage accounting software - Experience providing HR administrative support
- Experience in financial services or a regulated environment
- Working towards or holding an AAT qualification
£26,000 per annum.
LocationThis role is predominantly home-based, with occasional visits to one of our offices in Macclesfield or Stoke-on-Trent.
Working PatternFull-time, permanent position. Monday to Friday 9-5 (or similar, some flexibility)
