The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.
The Role &Key Responsibilities
The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Surrey is elected to ensure that the views of the public are listened to and reflected in the policing service they receive. PCCs are intended to be visible representatives of the public on matters of crime, policing and community safety. The Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner (OPCC) is responsible for supporting the PCC in carrying out the discharge of her statutory functions and in delivering her Police & Crime Plan.
In this role you will be a key member of a small team that supports the PCC. You will work with the Chief Finance Officer to provide financial advice and services to the OPCC. You will be responsible for setting and monitoring budgets and supporting OPCC colleagues on financial matters.
Skills & Experience- Minimum AAT qualification (NVQ4) or equivalent or qualified by experience.
- Strong experience in the areas of financial accounting, financial control, financial reporting, financial forecasting and cost and financial analysis.
- Experience of dealing with challenging issues and problems through to resolution.
- Able to evidence strong analytical skills.
- Excellent planning and prioritisation skills with ability to manage own workload without close supervision and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; able to present clearly (plain English) to different audiences including non-finance professionals.
- Able to build effective working relationships with strong skills for persuading and influencing managers to take action and meet deadlines.
- Able to make innovative suggestions to inform decision making.
- IT literate, including use of MS Excel (to an advanced level) and Word essential. Experience of using financial accounting systems.

The post holder will be required to work from the OPCC Offices, current at Surrey Police HQ in Guildford. Some home working is also possible by arrangement. Please note that the governance of Surrey Police is due to move from the PCC to anouther local government body in May 2028. This may affect the Finance Officer post in terms of potential restrucutre, line management and location.
