CAPTRUST is seeking a Financial Counselor II who wants to make a difference in people’s financial lives. Those that want to have holistic financial conversations to help educate and guide participants in employer sponsored retirement plans. We primarily speak with participants who have pre‑scheduled an appointment with the CAPTRUST At Work desk (outbound call). Your conversations will be unique and will answer the participants’ questions as well as discover areas of financial concern they may not even be aware of.
As an integral part of the At Work Desk team, you are making a difference in people’s lives as you provide advice and wellness conversations, not transactions.

Responsibilities- Empower Participants:
Provide holistic financial guidance and fiduciary‑level advice to retirement plan participants over the phone, focusing on their unique needs and goals. You’re having conversations and not processing transactions. - Deliver Financial Wellness Conversations:
Engage in meaningful, positive discussions about budgeting, cash management, credit and debt—helping participants build financial confidence and well‑being. - Personalize Retirement Strategies:
Assess risk tolerance, explain plan options, and recommend asset allocations using CAPTRUST’s investment philosophy. - Educate & Advise:
Answer participant questions, uncover hidden financial concerns, and deliver actionable next steps in a positive, encouraging manner. - Track & Collaborate:
Document participant activity in our CRM, manage department tasks (reporting, communications, presentations, scheduling), and take part in educational webinars as needed and suitable. - Be a Team Player:
Potentially support onsite meetings/benefits fairs as needed and contribute to a collaborative, mission‑driven team environment. - Minimum Qualifications:
- 6 years of related industry experience; retirement plans and investment vehicles
- A Professional License/Certification required:
Series 6,7, 65, CFP, or AFC - Desired Qualifications/Skills:
- 4‑year college degree (preferred but not required)
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, gap‑analysis tools and vendor website navigation
- Strong organizational skills (ability to manage multiple tasks, adapt to changing priorities, meet deadlines and manage expenses)
- Strong communications skills and interpersonal skills; including being polished, courteous, professional, and patient
- Detail oriented; ability to demonstrate good judgement and critical thinking
