Statutory Accounting Manager

Bell & Associates has been engaged to help our client find their next Statutory Accounting Manager. This role is responsible for driving technical accounting compliance, financial and operational internal controls, process simplification, and operational excellence to deliver accurate financial reporting and analysis. The position involves interpreting internal and external business challenges and recommending best practices to improve products, processes, or services.

The role is available remotely anywhere in the US or in Overland Park, KS.

Pay range: $ - $ per year.

• Provide guidance to finance teams and the organization on statutory accounting, filings, and regulatory requirements.
• Assist financial reporting teams to ensure all statutory filings are completed timely, efficiently, and in compliance with state regulatory requirements.
• Develop expertise within the function and provide professional or thought leadership.
• Lead or support functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, or complexity.
• Communicate complex messages and negotiate with internal stakeholders and external partners, vendors, or customers.
• Lead others to find creative solutions to address complex problems that may impact the organization, evaluating quality of information and questioning conflicting data.

• Experience with statutory and insurance regulatory requirements.
• Prior technical controllership and insurance industry experience, with Life & Health insurance products.
• Experience preparing statutory financial statements and working with auditors.
• Ability to analyze relevant facts and formulate technical accounting positions, considering statutory & regulatory guidance and insurance industry practices.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively.
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to company-specific processes.
• Master’s from an accredited university or college preferred.
