Senior Actuarial Analyst - Predictive Analytics

The Risk & Insurance team at Door Dash is responsible for all things insurance at the company. We are a rapidly growing and exciting function that helps Door Dash manage risk and safety with a close lens on the company's bottom line. We are looking for forward thinkers who are excited to help build out this team and match our ambitious cross-functional partners at Door Dash.

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate Senior Actuarial Analyst - Predictive Analytics who will be a member of Door Dash’s Actuarial Team within the Risk and Insurance Team. As one of the newest members of the actuarial team, you’ll have the rare opportunity to improve our data capabilities and seek data-driven insights to inform our insurance risk management decisions. In this role, you will report to the Senior Manager, Actuary.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…
  • Build models, establish KPIs with monitoring dashboards, and produce ad-hoc analysis to influence the insurance team’s operation and lead to faster, more cost-effective claims resolution.
  • Support the development of Door Dash’s risk segmentation model. Leveraging keen business intuition and predictive modeling techniques to deliver an actionable risk model.
  • Drive increased sophistication in our insurance program structure by proposing and negotiating additional rate segmentation with our insurance partners as part of our annual renewal process.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Strategy, and Operations, and other relevant cross-functional partners to integrate analytical and predictive modeling outputs into product initiatives that will help drive down insurance costs.

  • Flexibility, resourcefulness, optimism, grit, and a growth mindset
  • 2-5 years of experience in a quantitative or analytics role within the insurance industry
  • Strong SQL and Python/R skills are a must
  • Experience in assisting with building or improving predictive modeling (e.g., GLM, GBM) is a must.
  • Prior experience working with or for a gig or sharing economy company is a plus
  • Work experience in the Property & Casualty Insurance industry is preferred
  • Experience with Tableau or similar data visualization tools is a plus.
