Role Description
Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) is looking for a Corporate & Investment Banking Analyst to join our Consumer Coverage team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile transactions, support senior bankers, and gain exposure to a wide range of financing solutions for corporate clients and financial sponsors in the consumer sector.
Role Objectives:Delivery
Key Responsibilities
- Client Support: Assist senior bankers in managing client relationships and identifying cross-sell opportunities across SMBC’s product suite.
- Origination & Marketing: Prepare pitches, marketing materials, and strategic financing ideas across the capital structure.
- Financial Analysis: Build and maintain complex financial models, perform valuation analyses, and interpret financial statements.
- Market Research: Track industry trends, gather competitive intelligence, and contribute to sector-specific research for client presentations.
- Deal Execution: Coordinate due diligence, documentation, and internal approval processes for lending and capital markets transactions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with product partners (Debt Capital Markets, Leveraged Finance, Lending Management) to deliver integrated solutions.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills with proficiency in valuation techniques.
- Excellent communication skills—able to articulate ideas clearly in writing and verbally.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and ability to interpret financial statements.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to new processes.
- Education: BA/BS degree required.

Skills:
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. - Licensing: FINRA Series SIE, 79, and 63 required (or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe).
