Position Information

Reporting to the Financial and Administrative Officer (FAO) for English and Philosophy and the FAO for History, this role demands an advanced level of professional expertise in financial/budget analysis, fiscal management, contracts and grants, and administrative oversight for the English, History, and Philosophy departments. It monitors and reconciles monthly, quarterly, and annual financial transaction detail ledgers. The role encompasses comprehensive administration and coordination of all fiscal operations within departmental budgets, ensuring meticulous analysis of financial trends, accurate budget projections, and maintaining fiscal integrity and control.

It reviews departmental accounting and budgetary processes and procedures, critically evaluates expenditures and payroll transactions to ensure compliance with budget constraints, appropriateness of expenses, sufficiency of funds, and accuracy of accounts. It prepares complex budget reports and analyses for the FAO, departmental chairs, and/or faculty and plays a collaborative role in the year‑end fiscal close process. It provides expert guidance relating to policies, procedures, and financial reporting related to contracts and grants, and is involved in the strategic management and allocation of financial resources for graduate students and other academic employee types.

As the HR/AP Payroll Coordinator, it demands an in-depth understanding of payroll processes for all faculty, adjuncts, staff, and student appointments, ensuring stringent compliance with internal audit requirements and University policies for all financial activities.

All applicants will be assessed based on the minimum requirements for the recruitment for which they applied.

Eligibility

Applicants must have current U.S. work authorization. The University is unable to sponsor or take over employment visa sponsorship for staff.

Education

Degree Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalent experience/training.

Experience

Experience Requirement: 4‑7 years of related experience.

  • Ability to gather required information independently, organize, and perform financial analysis assignments.

  • Thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.
  • Proven ability to use spreadsheet and database software for complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications

Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
