Zone 5 is seeking a detail-oriented Financial Analyst to join our team and work directly with our Chief Financial Officer. This role requires a skilled professional who can manage complex financial models, lead multi-division budgeting processes, and translate intricate financial data into clear, actionable insights. The ideal candidate will bring investment banking, private equity, or corporate development experience and demonstrate exceptional analytical capabilities.

This position is based in San Luis Obispo, CA, with remote work options available for exceptional candidates.

• Construct, analyze, and maintain complex and dynamic operating and financial statement models, demonstrating deep understanding of the interplay between income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
• Lead the creation and ongoing maintenance of detailed, multi-year budgets spanning multiple divisions
• Process and analyze large volumes of operating and financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities
• Develop compelling financial presentations and reports for senior leadership and stakeholders
• Communicate complex financial information clearly and concisely through both written reports and verbal presentations
• Collaborate closely with the Chief Financial Officer on strategic financial initiatives and decision-making
• Ensure accuracy and attention to detail in all financial analyses, models, and reporting

• Bachelor's degree required; major or concentration in economics, finance, or accounting strongly preferred
• 2-3+ years of experience in a financial analyst role at an investment bank, private equity firm, or corporate development function
• Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to process and interpret large datasets
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for complex financial modeling and spreadsheet analysis
• Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities
• Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Experience in aerospace and defense industries is a plus, but not required
• Ability to work on-site in San Luis Obispo, CA preferred; remote candidates also considered

Pay range for this role

$100,000 - $115,000 USD

Note about our Texas roles: we are in the process of opening a location on the mid-west side of the DFW metro region. Roles in Texas will initially work remotely and then be expected to be onsite when that location opens in 2026.
