Overview

CBIZ Talent Solutions is assisting our client in their search for a Controller
. This is a remote position.

Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and high caliber Controller to support the growth of a private equity backed platform of market leading electrical and gas contractors. This role will handle all M&A post-close purchase accounting work streams as well as the integration of newly acquired brands into the platform. In addition, this team member will also facilitate general accounting, accounts payable, payroll, financial reporting, and other related responsibilities at the corporate level.

General Accounting

• Establish appropriate guidance and direction around proper accounting processes to promote accuracy and consistency
• Execute the month end close process for corporate books to ensure that financial statements are accurate, complete and timely
• Generate monthly and quarterly consolidated financial reporting for the platform to provide corporate leadership teams with insights into financial performance
• Lead the external audit process to collect and provide all required documentation to the external audit firm
• Support corporate income and sales tax requirements across the platform, working closely with the external tax firm to maintain compliance with all federal and state deadlines and regulations
• Process payroll for corporate employees while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations – assisting with employee benefits and 401k plan administration where required

Purchase Accounting

• Execute on financial due diligence considerations ahead of closing on new brands
• Lead post-acquisition work streams related to transaction cost analysis, valuation, 1060 allocation and opening balance sheet
• Record financial data in the general ledger and determine proper go-forward transaction recording

Integration Work streams

• Drive adoption of platform finance technology for newly acquired brands
• Collaborate with platform and brand to align system functionality with the specific needs of the business
• Train end users on how to properly use the systems to ease the disruption to operations

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• CPA preferred
• 7-12 years of relevant experience
• Expertise in GAAP accounting
• Exposure to private equity and demonstrated success operating in a fast paced, high growth environment
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial systems (e.g., Net Suite, Ramp, Paylocity, JPMorgan, )
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with attention to detail and time management
• This role will require occasional travel up to 25% of the time

Compensation: $160-$200K annual base with potential for bonus + stock.
