The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is accountable for identifying and assessing financial risk, establishing mitigation plans, and communicating risk and opportunity to the Group CFO and Facility CEO. The CFO monitors financial performance, maintains sound financial plans and forecasts, and collaborates with home office departments such as Compliance, Accounting/Financial Reporting, IS, Internal Audit, Legal, Treasury, and other support services.
The CFO also oversees the revenue cycle process, improving it through rate setting, charge capture, managed care negotiations, and cash collections. Additionally, the CFO evaluates and manages capital investments, determining ROI and managing capital spend against cash flow projections.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze daily operating results to ensure revenues, expenses, and labor remain within budgeted objectives and advise department heads accordingly.
- Maintain strong financial controls and record‑keeping; approve expenditures up to the level established by the CEO.
- Stay informed about government regulatory requirements and reimbursement changes, updating policies and procedures as needed.
- Ensure all financial operations are conducted ethically and responsibly.
- Prepare the annual operating budget and interface with HR and other departments for workforce and compensation plans.
- Prepare periodic financial and operating reports, ensuring accuracy and consistency throughout the facility.
- Generate financial forecasts, monitor performance versus budget, and develop cash‑management controls.
- Coordinate with senior leadership on strategic and financial plans, including capital expenditure programs.
- Review and improve all financial and accounting systems, directing new system development and policy implementation.
- Assist in developing new business opportunities by analyzing program feasibility and advising on financial prospects.
- Handle administrative duties, including signing documents, preparing reports, and completing performance appraisals.

Northeast Baptist Hospital is an acute care facility serving San Antonio since 1970. With 371 beds, it offers cardiovascular, neuroscience, orthopedics, general surgery, oncology, and a destination medicine program.
Position SummaryGuard the facility’s assets, prepare GAAP‑compliant financial statements, and ensure internal controls. The CFO is a key member of the Facility A‑Team, collaborating on strategic plans and interacting with regulatory bodies.
Candidate Experience, Attributes and Education Requirements- At least ten years of progressive financial healthcare experience (general accounting, operations, financial systems, statement preparation, review and analysis, multi‑discipline management).
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills, able to manage workload under pressure.
- Ability to translate complex finance, operations, and compliance issues into clear concepts for all organizational levels.
- Track record of improving financial performance in a facility environment.
- Experience in negotiating managed care contracts.
- Expertise in financial operations, strategic planning, contracts, reimbursement, budgeting, and capital financing in a complex environment.
