Overview

Joe & the Juice is seeking a Senior Manager, US Tax & Accounting to lead all US tax compliance efforts and support key accounting operations across our fast-growing US business. This is a hands-on, strategic role with high visibility across the organization, including frequent collaboration with cross-functional teams and senior leadership. The role is based in New York and reports to the VP of Group Finance in Copenhagen, with a functional reporting line to the Managing Director, US in New York.

This position will evolve in scope as the business scales, focusing on US indirect tax compliance and planning, coupled with strong accounting capabilities in a multi-state environment.

The base pay range for this role is $/yr - $/yr. The broader range information is provided by the company and may be adjusted based on skills and experience.

Note:

The company is in-office 5 days a week with occasional remote work on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday when schedule permits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the US tax lead, managing operational compliance and ensuring timely filing and settlement of all tax obligations
  • Oversee all US indirect tax filings (sales & use, property, personal property, resort taxes, etc.) in partnership with a Big 4 provider
  • Own tax registrations for new store openings and conduct tax impact assessments in new markets
  • Act as primary contact for US tax authorities; manage audits, inquiries, and routine interactions
  • Lead indirect tax accounting and reconciliations in close collaboration with Group Accounting
  • Support the monthly close process alongside the Copenhagen-based Reporting & Controlling team
  • Act as the primary US accounting liaison, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Coordinate with external auditors and advisors on US statutory and tax-related matters
  • Partner with the Global Financial Shared Services team to support day-to-day accounting operations
  • Drive the selection and implementation of a tax automation platform to streamline compliance
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across Legal, Retail, Payroll, and IT to support operational tax and accounting needs
Key Qualifications
  • 7–10 years of relevant experience in US indirect tax and accounting, ideally in retail, hospitality, or other multi-unit businesses
  • Prior experience at a Big 4 firm or in an in-house tax role supporting multi-state operations
  • Proven expertise in sales & use tax, property tax, and managing complex tax registrations
  • Strong working knowledge of state and local tax regulations and direct dealings with tax authorities
  • Familiarity with month-end accounting processes and compliance requirements
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, growth-oriented environments; adaptable and solution-oriented
  • Excellent communication and project management skills; comfortable working cross-functionally and across regions
  • Advanced Excel skills with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Experience with tax automation tools (e.g., Avalara, Vertex) preferred
  • Master’s degree in Tax or Accounting and CPA preferred
