KPMG is seeking a Senior Manager to join our State and Local Tax (SALT) practice.
Responsibilities- Provide tax compliance services to partnerships for Asset Management clients
- Deliver exceptional client service to multi-state companies with state and local tax issues including compliance, advisory services, planning, technology, and controversies
- Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax controversies, including preparing for discussions with auditors, representing the client at hearings and appeal meetings, and preparing protests
- Research and draft technical memoranda regarding state and local tax questions
- Aid with the business development, management, and delivery of SALT services, and provide oversight on large client project engagements
- Supervise, mentor, and develop staff members and teams
- Assist multi-state companies with analyzing state tax considerations/impacts related to business restructuring projects and intercompany transactions
- Develop cross-functional relationships within the firm
- Minimum five years of recent experience performing tax research and providing technical advice on multi-state tax issues
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university
- Licensed CPA, EA, JD/LLM or MTX, in addition to other approved credentials; if not possessed at hire, must obtain within one year from date of hire
- Able to develop business and foster client relationships
- Ability and desire to perform in a high-energy team environment with excellent writing, communication, and tax research skills
- Prior experience in Partnership and/or Asset Management
- Minimum eight years of recent experience in providing tax research and technical advice on multi-state issues
- Strong knowledge of client delivery development, planning, and execution
- Experience with other state and local taxes
