We are seeking an early-career Mechanical Engineer to join our Boston, MA office. This professional will support the planning, design, and documentation of HVAC and building mechanical systems for commercial, institutional, and industrial facilities.
In this role, you will work alongside experienced engineers and project managers to perform HVAC load calculations, equipment selection, and system layouts, develop AutoCAD and Revit design documents, and support projects through design and construction. The position offers hands-on exposure to site investigations, interdisciplinary coordination, and construction administration, along with mentorship and professional development opportunities to support your path toward licensure.
Responsibilities- Assist in the design of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems under the guidance of senior engineers
- Develop and modify mechanical system drawings and BIM models using AutoCAD and Revit
- Research and apply applicable codes and standards, including IBC, IMC, ASHRAE, and NFPA
- Support energy efficiency and sustainability goals, including IECC and LEED requirements
- Participate in site visits to document existing conditions and gather field data
- Coordinate with architectural, structural, electrical, and civil engineering teams to support integrated design solutions
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, design narratives, and construction documents
- Assist with construction administration tasks, including submittal reviews, RFIs, and field inspections
- Support project managers and senior engineers to help deliver projects on time and within budget
- Attend client and internal coordination meetings as appropriate
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or engineering science
- 1-3 years of experience (internship experience preferred)
- EIT certification preferred, but not required
- Interest in HVAC and building mechanical system design
- Experience with or exposure to AutoCAD and Revit preferred
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Willingness to travel to project sites 1-2 days per week on average throughout MA, CT, and RI
