Description
As a mid-level plant design and piping designer in the Amentum Technology, Inc. Energy & Environment – North America – Nuclear Projects Group, you will work with Senior level designers to create equipment and piping models in Smart Plant S3D. Additional responsibilities will include coordination with other disciplines working in BIM models, working with piping engineering, and working with designers and engineers in other disciplines as well as our teaming partner offices to deliver a fully coordinated and collaborated BIM project model.
The designer will be responsible for creating design deliverables such as orthographic and isometric drawings. Additionally, the designer will assist in interference detection and resolution as well as ensuring proper integration with other Smart Plant tools such as SPID, SPEL and SPI.
- High School Diploma/GED
- 5+ years using BIM tools for Plant Design
- Chemical process industrial mechanical/piping design experience
- Nuclear piping design experience preferred
- A general understanding of Piping Systems
- In addition to the Basic Qualifications the ideal candidate might also have:
- 5 or more years of experience preferred.
- Trade School or Associates Degree
- Strong communication skills.

- Self‑starter with the ability to learn new design software
- Previous nuclear and chemical piping design experience
- Attention to detail
Office environment (95%). Occasional visits to the office may be required. May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, explosives, chemicals and industrial facilities.
Physical RequirementsAppropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions. Must be able to move and sit for extended periods (100%) and lift up to 35 lbs (25%). Vision correctable to 20/20. Candidate must have the ability to read and use Smart Plant design software unassisted.
