What Your Job Will Be Like
We are seeking a summer R&D Undergraduate Intern to join our dynamic team.
The Thermal, Fluid, and Aero Sciences group has opportunities for undergraduate interns for the summer of 2026. On any given day, you may be called on to:
- Assist the Thermal, Fluid, and Aero Sciences group with various work projects.
- Conduct computational/modeling simulation in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, particle dynamics/mechanics, or aero sciences.
- Participate and contribute to experiments including wind tunnel testing, explosives testing, laser measurements, X‑ray measurements, high‑speed imaging, rheological characterization, AI/ML, among others.
- Conduct analysis on experimental and computational data.
The internships available span multiple engineering disciplines, including:
- Aerospace Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Materials Engineering
- Computational Science

Our pay structure is based on earned credit hours, classification, and degree level. Your pay rate will be determined during the hire process and included in your offer package. QualificationsWe Require
- Currently attending and enrolled full time in the spring term immediately preceding the internship (or scheduled to graduate in the spring) in an accredited undergraduate program
- Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
- Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer
- Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship
Note:
If you have not earned a HS diploma or equivalent, please apply to a high school intern position.
- Demonstrated successful teamwork, excellent communication skills (oral and written), and consistent demonstration of good behaviors.
- Experience in thermal, fluid, or aerodynamic measurement or analysis as evidenced by laboratory or project work during undergraduate study.
