Fully-Remote Distribution Planning Engineer
The Distribution Planning Engineer performs Distribution Development Plan (DDP) studies and load analyses to support system reliability, customer growth, and interconnections across CenterPoint Energy’s electric distribution system.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct DDP studies, New Load Request analyses, and power flow/short‑circuit modeling.
- Identify system constraints and recommend distribution upgrades or new construction.
- Support regulatory filings, provide technical documentation, and assist in ERCOT/PUCT technical discussions.
- Collaborate with internal engineering, operations, and external utility including CenterPoint Energy.
- Maintain and enhance distribution models and planning tools, including CYME applications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 3+ years of utility or power engineering experience; distribution planning preferred.
- Proficiency with CYME or similar modeling tools.
- Experience with DER, load forecasting, or regulatory processes.
- Knowledge of NESC/IEEE standards and utility practices.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $48.00/hr.
