Maurer-Stutz, Inc. is actively recruiting a seasoned Project Manager/Engineer with a minimum of 10–15 years of relevant experience to strengthen our Water-Wastewater Group and assist other groups as needed. Responsibilities will include leading planning and feasibility studies, researching loan and grant opportunities, performing engineering design, developing plans, specifications and bid documents, securing necessary permits, supporting bidding processes, and assisting with construction phase services.
While this is a remote position offering significant flexibility, the ideal candidate will reside within approximately 3 hours of our Peoria, Illinois office, and be willing and able to travel up to 5 days per month for team meetings, client meetings, or site visits.
- Water main planning, design and construction observation for local public and private water utilities
- Major water treatment plant improvements and new facilities
- Major wastewater treatment plant upgrades and new facilities
- Wastewater planning studies for unsewered communities
- Sewage pumping stations with gravity sewers and force mains
- Financial Planning and Funding Assistance
- Rate Studies and Economic Lifecycle Analysis
- Development of Master Plans and Capital Improvement Plans
- Development of plans/studies to meet NPDES Discharge Permit Requirements
- Manage existing and new water/wastewater projects
- Prepare project scopes and manhour estimates for planning, design and construction for potential water/wastewater projects
- Lead and assist water and wastewater staff for planning/feasibility studies and design projects including water mains, wastewater collection systems, pump stations and force mains, and wastewater and water treatment plants
- Meet with existing and potential clients
- Assist clients with grant and loan applications and securing project funding
- Prepare construction drawings and specifications
- Prepare permits for construction and environmental signoff
- Assist with construction administration and observation services
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- 10 to 15 years of experience consulting in the water/wastewater industry
- Professional Licensed Engineer in Illinois or the ability to obtain a license in Illinois within 60 days
- Willing to travel up to 5 days per month for team meetings, client meetings, or site visits with paid travel time and expenses
- Experience managing simple to complex water/wastewater projects
- Proficiency in overseeing skilled individuals
- Strong organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Attention to detail and the ability to utilize problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills/mentoring
- Familiarity with CAD Software (including Auto Desk, AutoCAD and/or Civil3D, Hydro
CAD, etc.) - Familiarity with GIS Concepts and Esri ArcGIS Software
