Project Manager (Mid-Level) (Energy & Permitting – Southwest Region) Remote

Tetra Tech is adding a proactive and detail-oriented Project Manager (Mid-Level) specializing in Energy, Permitting, and Environmental Review to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a key part in advancing energy projects by overseeing planning, execution, and delivery while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

You will collaborate closely with engineers, environmental specialists, clients, and regulatory agencies to navigate complex permitting processes and deliver projects on schedule and within budget. This position offers the opportunity to support renewable energy and electric transmission initiatives that contribute to sustainable growth and infrastructure development.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead and manage energy projects from initiation through completion, ensuring achievement of scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives
  • Coordinate and oversee permitting efforts, ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory standards and requirements
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets
  • Collaborate with engineering and environmental teams to ensure compliance and technical accuracy
  • Communicate effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal teams to provide updates and resolve issues
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Prepare and present project documentation, including reports, proposals, and presentations
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Additional duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Land Use Planning, Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 5–8 years of project management experience, specifically within energy development and/or permitting
  • Strong understanding of energy regulations, permitting processes, and environmental impact assessments
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with energy or electric transmission permitting in Arizona
  • Knowledge of Arizona regulatory frameworks and agencies
  • Candidate physically located in Arizona preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time
  • Ability to attend and participate in meetings, presentations, and stakeholder engagements
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry materials up to approximately 20–25 pounds (e.g., documents, field materials, equipment)
  • Ability to conduct site visits, including walking on uneven terrain and standing for extended periods as needed
  • Primarily office-based or hybrid work environment with remote flexibility
  • Occasional field visits to project sites, which may include exposure to construction areas, outdoor environments, varying weather conditions, and uneven terrain
  • Interaction with regulatory agencies, clients, and multidisciplinary technical teams
  • Travel may be required to support project execution, stakeholder coordination, and regulatory meetings

Compensation:

Pay commensurate with experience.

Pay Range: $140,000-$170,000 annually
