The Construction Division manages multimillion-dollar contracts for preventative maintenance and new construction of INDOT facilities, including roads, bridges, culverts, and traffic signals. Our team oversees all construction phases to ensure quality and compliance with plans and specifications. Role Overview:
The Construction Area Engineer acts as a liaison and expert in MOT, traffic maintenance, and constructability. You will supervise Support Engineers, Project Engineers, Construction Managers, and Supervisors, assigning them to projects. You will manage change orders, have approval authority, and provide recommendations. Responsibilities include providing engineering guidance, making decisions on complex issues, conducting project inspections, and ensuring compliance throughout project completion.

The salary typically starts at $85,020.00, commensurate with experience and education.

What You'll Need for Success:Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- B.S. in Civil Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Indiana.
- At least two years’ experience leading engineering teams or conducting research.
- Valid Indiana driver’s license.
- Strong knowledge of civil/transportation engineering, standards, NEPA, NHPA, CAD, traffic analysis, and economic evaluation.
- Ability to interpret plans, define problems, communicate effectively, and handle sensitive contacts.
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to develop innovative engineering solutions.
This role may involve supervising staff members directly.
