Remote Pilot Operator at ZTL

Position Overview

Full‑time, Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) at SAIC Controller Training Solutions (CTS) supporting the Atlanta ARTCC (ZTL) in Hampton, GA. This role supports air traffic controller training services for the FAA and is not a UAV or drone pilot position.

Minimum clearance required:
None, but candidate must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

• Operate a simulated radar display and voice communication system to replicate real pilot actions and ATC communications.
• Receive voice commands from students, input correct entries into the automated system, translate displayed information into ATC terminology, and respond via the VCS using proper phraseology.
• Complete classroom instruction (pass test on airspace and procedures) and lab certification (perform as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions).

• High school diploma or equivalent with basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to read and interpret diagrams and manuals, and to speak clearly and be understood.
• US citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

• Experience working in a multidisciplinary team (Multimedia Developers, Quality Assurance, Instruction System Designers, Subject Matter Experts, Instructors).
• Certification or experience in ATC Tower, TRACON, or En Route simulation labs (strongly desired, but not required).
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of the FAA JO 7110.65 (strongly desired, but not required).
• Effective team building skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
• Basic familiarization with current technology tools (tablets, notebooks, applications, etc.).
• Basic familiarity or experience with pilot/controller communications or phraseology.
