Position: Network Design Engineer *DoD Clearance Required*

Description

TEKsystems is seeking Junior up to Sr level DS (Distribution Systems) Engineers to help support our upcoming BIM contract. These levels include DS (Distribution Systems) Engineer, DS (Distribution Systems) Engineer Sr, and DS (Distribution Systems) Engineer Advisor.

How A DS (Distribution Systems) Engineer Sr Will Make an Impact

Field Engineer provides technical expertise to modernize network design and implementation supporting multiple Air Force and Space Force bases globally. The Field Engineer will be the technical resource supporting the survey and implementation efforts. Works closely with the base's counterparts and facilitates the planning, execution, testing and sustainment of the wired functionality of the network.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Execution – Coordinate with Government Points of Contact (POCs) to coordinate design, installation, base access, clearance, escorts, personnel and equipment to ensure project tasks can be completed on time.
  • Stakeholder Communications – Assist the PM with ensuring clear, consistent, timely and accurate communications are maintained with internal and external project stakeholders.
  • Technical support – Provide input into the distribution systems design (ISP/OSP) and technical recommendations to the program and operation teams.
  • Leadership – Lead small implementation teams or manage specific work scopes for a given AF/SF base.
Other Tasks Include
  • Provide technical, administrative, and operational management of assigned projects.
  • Develop technical project plans, proposals, reports, and task orders and administrative reporting.
  • Perform detailed technical services on assigned tasks.
  • Conduct planning and provide recommendations on task workload.
  • Provide input into risk tracking process.
  • Attend customer meetings and serve as primary network engineering liaison.
  • Interact with vendors, other agencies, and other client staff.
  • Coordinate development of deliverables and products.
  • Ensure quality assurance of project deliverables.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
  • Participate in special projects as required.
  • Review project requirements and develop strategies for future work.
What You'll Need to Succeed
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in an applicable field. Equivalent years of experience may be substituted.
  • Required Experience:
    • For Junior level: 2+ years in various aspects of IT upgrade projects in the DoD environment.
    • For Sr level: 5+ years in various aspects of IT upgrade projects in the DoD environment.
    • For Advisor level: 8+ years in various aspects of IT upgrade projects in the DoD environment.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    • Familiarity with distribution systems (ISP/OSP) design and implementation documents such as Site Survey Reports, Preliminary and Critical Design documentation, As‑built diagrams, rack elevations and circuit connectivity matrices.
    • Familiar with all aspects of fiber testing.
    • Thorough understanding of Wired and general IT functions.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Ability to work effectively in a virtual teaming environment.
    • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, documents and governmental regulations.
    • Strong commitment to a team environment and ability to work collaboratively.
    • Strong coordination and organizational skills.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Desired

    Qualifications:

    • Experience using MS Visio or related CAD tools.
    • Active DoD Secret Level Clearance required.
Job Type & Location

This is a contract position based out of North Little Rock, AR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $46.00 - $64.81/hr.
