AWS Solutions Engineer

We are seeking an experienced AWS Solutions Engineer to lead the rollout, implementation, and automation of AWS technologies for a mission‑critical aerospace software development project. This role is integral to supporting software development efforts for a mission‑critical aerospace application.

• Manage domain name resolution and SSL/TLS certificate provisioning, renewal automation, and secure communications configuration.
• Containerize Windows applications using Docker, manage build pipelines, and deploy to Windows Server container hosts.
• Configure Active Directory for centralized user authentication and authorization across Windows and Linux systems, including Linux file system mounting.
• Deploy and configure AWS Application Load Balancers for traffic distribution, health checking, SSL termination, and high availability routing.
• Deploy and manage containerized applications using Amazon Elastic Container Service, including cluster management and orchestration.
• Implement secure file sharing protocols using SMB over QUIC for remote access without VPN requirements.
• Optimize network file system configurations for latency reduction, caching, throughput, and overall performance.
• Write and maintain infrastructure definitions using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools with version control.
• Configure AWS S3 Glacier for archival storage, implement data lifecycle policies, and manage retrieval procedures.
• Design and implement automated backup solutions with scheduling, retention policies, encryption, and monitoring.

• Expertise in AWS for deployment, customization, and automation of systems.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, and Go.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
• Familiarity with CI/CD processes and tools, including Git and Docker.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience.

• Experience with Terraform and Cloud Formation for infrastructure automation.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Git Lab, or equivalent.
• Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible.
• Knowledge of compute and orchestration tools like Docker, EKS, ECS, and AWS Lambda.
• Understanding of AWS Organizations, SCP's, Control Tower, and AWS IAM for governance and security.
• Experience with management and monitoring tools like Cloud Trail and Cost Explorer.
• Skills in VPC management and DNS configurations.
• Knowledge of database and storage solutions like RDS and S3.

The position offers flexibility with the option to work in an office or remotely, provided the candidate can adhere to core East Coast hours of 9-5 or 10-6. This role supports a mission‑critical software development and enhancement activity with NASA for flight dynamics software.

This is a Contract position based out of Beltsville, MD.

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $80.00/hr.
