Project Manager – Engineering(Exempt, Full-time, Regular)
The City of Pitt Meadows is looking for a Project Manager to manage and lead various projects relating to municipal engineering, civic buildings, infrastructure, and associated project management. Reporting to the Director of Engineering & Operations, this position will have considerable contact with City Council, the public, and other industry professionals, while overseeing the work of consultants. Projects range from minor capital renovations to major asset replacement and will help guide the infrastructure investments in the City.
Regular working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm, with a 37.5-hour workweek.
This position is eligible for possible participation in our Earned Day Off Program and Remote Work Arrangement.
Key Responsibilities Project Management- Delivers projects of various sizes while providing recommendations for implementation. Establishes project goals, hires consultants, and monitors progress.
- Ensures projects are satisfying goals and objectives, and are on schedule within budget expectations.
- Coordinates, researches, develops, and oversees the design and construction of municipal works and services.
- Develops and determines research methodology for policy and associated projects.
- Provides recommendations for improving the City’s standards, bylaws, policies, and procedures within the scope of infrastructure planning, asset management, engineering, and facilities.
- Assists the Director and Manager of Engineering & Facilities by providing strategic input into coordinating engineering and facility projects.
- Contributes to the development of long-term Capital plans and operational budgets, while seeking out and applying for relevant grants.
- Working with the Communications Division, coordinates and participates in community engagement sessions to increase awareness and community involvement.
- Liaises and presents to the public, Council, city staff, and various external key interest holders while answering questions and addressing issues.
- University graduation in Engineering or related discipline or technical diploma from a recognized Technical Institute, with 3+ years related professional project management experience for major infrastructure projects OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Preferred registration as (or eligible for registration as) a Professional Engineer in the Province of BC. Consideration will be given for membership (or eligibility for membership) as an Engineering‑in‑Training or Applied Science Technologist in the Province of BC.
- Preferred Project Management training/certification, such as a PMP designation.
- Experience with design, construction and project management of buildings, building components such as roofs, walls, or HVAC systems or renovations, energy efficiency initiatives, dike upgrades and/or drainage pump stations would be considered an asset.
- Driver’s Licence valid in the Province of British Columbia.
- Salary range for this position is Band E: $112,700 to $126,944 annually.
