Established in 1930 to protect the lakes and streams of the upper Yahara watershed, the District is a wastewater collection and treatment utility serving about 435,000 people in 24 Madison-area owner communities covering about 191 square miles. The District owns and operates 151 miles of pipe and 18 regional pumping stations that convey approximately 38 million gallons of wastewater to the Nine Springs Wastewater Treatment Plant daily.
Through the treatment process, we recover valuable resources before returning clean water to the environment.

PositionSummary
Under general supervision of the Reliability Process Manager, the Maintenance Planner is part of the District’s Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Department, working to improve maintenance efficiency, safety, and quality by addressing and reducing unproductive maintenance time.
This position oversees the work order management process (IPSECA), including reviewing works orders, scheduling field reviews and job walkdowns, researching parts and labor requirements, and preparing the work in the system for scheduling primarily focused on electrical and facilities assets. After completion, the Maintenance Planner works closely with technicians to capture details of what happened on the job. Through data, feedback, and properly managed Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) records, more efficient and effective planning is enabled in the future.
This time savings allows the Maintenance Planner to focus on improving other areas of maintenance to impact overall plant reliability, helping the District to meet its Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) goals.

Salary InformationSalary Range: $79,144.00 - $93,100.80 Annually

Job DetailsVisit our careers page to learn more about this opportunity – Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment but regularly requires work in the field with exposure to wastewater and other hazards. Must be able to physically access areas of the plant and the collection system. Must be able to safely use computer equipment for extended periods of time.
Requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard or other office equipment. Requires visual acuity to read and write words and numbers. Requires speaking and hearing ability sufficiently to communicate in person, publicly or over the phone. The noise level varies from quiet to loud. This position may be eligible for remote work consistent with the District’s remote work policy.
- Journeyman Electrical Certification
- Experience in a plant/large operational setting that includes experience with preventative maintenance and work orders within an organization practicing best practice planning, scheduling and continuous improvement.
- Experience utilizing a CMMS or Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system to process work orders.
- Experience with Industrial Automation and Controls
- Training in Continuous Improvement, Reliability Centered Maintenance, Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP), etc.
