Electrical Estimator

As an Electrical Substation Cost Estimator, you’ll play a pivotal role in transforming engineering plans into real-world projects.

You’ll work alongside passionate experts, using cutting-edge tools and your own industry insight to bring precision and clarity to every stage of construction planning.

This hybrid role offers the best of both worlds—collaborate in person at our Raleigh office at least two days per week and enjoy the flexibility of remote work the rest of the time. • Review and interpret engineering plans with accuracy.
• Perform and document detailed quantity takeoffs for civil works, building construction, high and low voltage electrical and mechanical installation.
• Develop unit costs using industry standards for labor, equipment, and materials.
• Estimate construction costs from engineering drawings and specs.
• Use estimates to support construction scheduling.
• Evaluate subcontractor pricing and change requests.
• Maintain and contribute to the Hitachi Energy construction cost database.
• Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

• 5+ years of experience in construction cost estimating, preferably in electrical substations.
• Education related with quantity surveying, construction management, or related field preferred. Or a combination of education and experience.
• Proficiency with estimating software such as Prost or Pro Est.
• Strong understanding of industry labor, equipment, and material cost standards.
• Experience assessing subcontractor bids and change orders.
• Excellent documentation and communication skills.
