How You’ll Make an Impact
We're looking for an Environmental Compliance Specialist III to join our Compliance Team to provide technical expertise, project management, and regulatory guidance. This position involves leading complex compliance assessments, managing tasks, mentoring junior staff, and serving as a key point of contact for regulatory compliance efforts. The specialist will work on multi‑disciplinary projects, ensuring adherence to environmental laws, permitting requirements, and best management practices.
This is a part‑time, 24‑hour role.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the development and submission of environmental permits, impact assessments, and compliance reports.
- Perform detailed regulatory research and analysis to ensure project adherence to federal, state, and local environmental laws (e.g., NEPA, CEQA, CWA, CAA, RCRA).
- Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies, addressing compliance‑related concerns and permit conditions.
- Develop and implement compliance strategies and mitigation measures for complex projects.
- Oversee and conduct environmental field assessments, audits, and compliance monitoring.
- Interpret and analyze environmental monitoring data, identifying trends and potential compliance risks.
- Ensure the implementation of best management practices (BMPs) related to stormwater, hazardous materials, air quality, and erosion control.
- Prepare and review comprehensive compliance reports, impact assessments, and mitigation plans.
- Ensure proper documentation, record‑keeping, and regulatory reporting for environmental compliance activities.
- Provide quality control and technical oversight for compliance‑related documents prepared by junior staff.
- Serve as a task manager or phase manager for complex compliance‑related tasks, coordinating multidisciplinary team contributions.
- Communicate with clients, regulatory agencies, and project teams to provide compliance solutions and resolve potential issues.
- Support public meetings, regulatory negotiations, and stakeholder engagements related to environmental compliance.
- Develop and implement innovative tools, templates, and workflows to improve environmental compliance tracking and reporting.
- Identify and propose strategies to enhance efficiency and cost‑effectiveness of compliance services.
- Contribute to internal training programs and best practice initiatives for environmental compliance.
- Continue expanding expertise in environmental compliance regulations, permitting, and industry trends.
- Actively participate in professional organizations (e.g., AEP, NAEP, SWANA), including attending conferences, presenting research, or taking on leadership roles.
- Mentor and train junior staff and interns, providing technical guidance and career development support.
Minimum Qualifications
