The end goal is to develop a data‑center sourcing solution—leveraging existing facilities, colocation services, cloud services, or new builds—and to design new topologies, reliability, redundancy, and financial analysis for decision support.

Job Description Summary of

Job Role and Responsibilities

The ideal senior consultant will lead many areas, specifically supporting the analysis of data‑center infrastructure as part of our strategy development projects. The skill set includes Electrical, Mechanical, Facility Systems, Operations, and Master Planning. The consultant will complete various data‑center assessments and due‑diligence tasks as part of a broader team delivering strategy analysis to the client.

Qualifications
  • Lead and participate in delivery of major projects, acting as client Trusted Advisor and Subject Matter Expert.
  • Deliver professional presentations and written communications to CIO/CFO/COO and other senior roles.
  • Work from a home office; travel up to 50% of the time.
Desirable Advanced Requirements
  • Applicable data‑center professional certifications.
  • 10+ years of data‑center operational experience in privately owned or colocation facilities.
  • BA/BS from an accredited college/university (Engineering or Computer Science preferred).
  • Background check clearance and U.S. passport with international travel capability.
Electrical
  • Competent in interpreting electrical one‑line drawings for mission‑critical facilities.
  • Determine loading concepts of redundant systems and calculate maximum load capability.
  • Know industry standard redundancy ratings and related requirements.
  • Collect and record operational data from meters, switchboards, UPS, PDUs, generators, transfer switches, and metering stations.
  • Analyze infrastructure designs to identify typical mission‑critical facility approaches.
  • Understand reliability metrics: MTBF, MTTR, maintainability, concurrent maintainability.
  • Assess and document maintenance process effectiveness.
  • Familiar with grounding systems and basic lightning protection.
  • Identify single points of failure and suggest risk mitigation.
  • Perform base power calculations (kW, tons/kW, KVA, power factor, power per area).
  • Know National Electrical Code requirements.
  • Perform work safely in facility infrastructure spaces.
  • Follow written and verbal technical instructions.
  • Use standard Windows applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Mechanical
  • Interpret mechanical one‑line drawings for HVAC systems in mission‑critical facilities.
  • Determine loading concepts of redundant systems and calculate maximum load.
  • Familiar with redundancy ratings and requirements.
  • Collect operational data from chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, piping gauges.
  • Analyze designs to identify component levels for typical mission‑critical configurations.
  • Understand reliability metrics (MTBF, MTTR, etc.) for mechanical systems.
  • Assess maintenance process condition.
  • Identify single points of failure and propose mitigation.
Operations
  • Understand maintenance staffing plans and skill requirements.
  • Evaluate building monitoring and control systems.
  • Assess critical spaces and their condition.
  • Understand and evaluate Emergency Power Off (EPO) systems.
  • Evaluate fire detection and suppression systems.
  • Assess maintenance practices for high reliability of fire systems.
  • Evaluate security systems, including perimeter, video, card, biometric, and rack‑level protection.
  • Assess maintenance management and change management processes.
  • Review documentation for critical equipment infrastructure.
