Job Description:
- The Technical / CAD Designer IV is responsible for developing and maintaining high-quality structural models and drawings to support complex industrial projects.
- This role applies advanced structural drafting expertise, analytical thinking, and technical knowledge to ensure design accuracy, constructability, and compliance with established standards.
- Prepare 3D Revit structural models and 2D drawings and details of structural building systems.
- Create definitions of parts, modules, and assemblies in the form of 3D models, 2D cross sections, section details, tolerance stack-ups, and electronic data formats to support analysis, manufacturing, assembly, tooling, and inspection.
- Apply in-depth knowledge of structural disciplines, analytical thinking, and technical experience to execute design policies and strategies.
- Apply structural drafting and design best practices, including coordination with mechanical piping, HVAC, and electrical systems.
- Apply design principles and drafting procedures in all assigned design activities.
- Work with the BIM Coordinator to manage and issue models in Autodesk Construction Cloud while enforcing configuration management plans.
- Support the Civil Structural team with 3D modeling using Revit and Navisworks.
- Utilize advanced proficiency in Revit and the Autodesk suite of tools.
- Use technical experience and analytical judgment to support design decisions.
- Leverage multiple internal and limited external sources outside the immediate team to arrive at informed decisions.
- Associate degree in Structural Design or a related field with three years of experience in structural drafting for heavy industrial, thermal power, nuclear, or similar industries.
- Alternatively, at least five years of relevant work experience in structural drafting for heavy industrial, thermal power, nuclear, or similar industries.
- Minimum of three years of experience using Revit for structural modeling.
- Ability to pass a nuclear security background check for access.
- Experience managing project work schedules and priorities.
- Ability to work proactively with Engineering teams to develop 3D models using Autodesk tools, including Revit.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment to execute work plans and schedules in support of mission objectives while complying with policies and procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft products and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams.
- Advanced knowledge of Revit family creation.
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor is a plus.
- Experience using Autodesk BIM
360 or Autodesk Construction Cloud. - Experience using Autodesk Vault.
