Spotts, Stevens and McCoy (SSM) is seeking a Mechanical (HVAC) Engineer to join our Facilities Engineering Division. This position offers the opportunity to design and manage sophisticated mechanical systems for industrial, commercial, and research facilities, including data centers and complex process environments.

You'll have the opportunity to work directly with clients, coordinate with internal design teams, and see your systems come to life in the field.

Primary Responsibilities:

As a key member of our Facilities Engineering team, you'll take on a diverse range of projects that challenge your creativity and engineering judgment.

• Perform project management responsibilities for projects involving AHU's, fan coils, chillers, cooling towers, hydronic and steam piping, secondary cooling water systems, heat exchangers, compressed air and nitrogen systems, natural gas, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
• Prepare simple and routine plans, designs, calculations, and cost estimates by following standard engineering practices and procedures, coordinating with drafting and designers to complete projects.
• Interpret client scope documents and verbal scope requests to proposals and guiding project though design and construction.
• Assist with complex design, plans, calculations, field surveys, and reports.
• Attend project meetings with clients, conduct field surveys to document existing conditions, conduct construction observations, and prepare reports.
• Coordinating with electrical, structural, and architectural teams to ensure fully integrated project delivery.
• Interpreting client scopes and guiding projects through design, documentation, and construction.
• Remain current on professional practice and maintain high awareness of new products and procedures within the industry.

Requirements

• B. S. in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering.
• 7 years' experience in the design of HVAC systems.
• Professional Engineering License in PA (preferred).
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
• Strong written and verbal communication, self-motivation, and leadership skills required.

This position is based out of our Reading PA office; however, there may be flexibility for a hybrid-remote work model.
