Field Application Engineer

This position will be home-based and requires daily travel to local customer sites within the geographical region. Travel to customer sites extensively, with expected overnight potential of 30-40% with up to 80% for periods of time. All expenses are covered and a company credit card is provided.

U.S. Citizenship is Required - Candidate must be able to obtain necessary clearance and/or credentials as required. The types of clearances could include, but are not limited to, Homeland Security clearance, background and credit checks, and more.

• Focus on the installation, upgrading and deployment of Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS).
• Customer-facing position - the successful candidate must work well in a team environment and will interface directly with contractors and end-users daily.
• Responsibilities for this position include performing software installation, customization, and start-up services; start-up, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical power monitoring equipment; device communications; and providing customer training for the commissioned system.
• Consulting with customers to determine system operation requirements.
• Configuring and commissioning Schneider Electric and 3rd party hardware.
• Performing start-up services and system troubleshooting.
• Documenting the as-built system.
• Daily commuting to customer sites is required. The majority of travel is domestic with occasional international opportunities.
• Shift work is possible with this role.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, with emphasis on control systems, Computer Science or Software Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience with electrical fundamentals as well as with electrical equipment.
• Ability to technically troubleshoot network communications (IP Addresses and being able to find devices on a network).
• Ability to interpret contract specifications and electrical (or mechanical) drawings.
• Willingness to travel both regionally as well as out of state as needed.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work effectively in a group setting.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving history.

• Experience related to Electrical Power Monitoring Systems;
  Building Automation Systems, Systems Integration, and/or Energy Management Systems.
• Experience working around electrical equipment such as switch gear, generators, UPS systems, etc.
• Thorough understanding of power generation, power distribution, and power quality concepts.
• Good understanding of industry-standard communication protocols with an emphasis on Modbus, IEC 61850, and BACnet.
• Knowledgeable in computer networking architectures, topologies, and hardware.
• Knowledgeable in computer programming languages (Visual Basic, C/C++, Java, Python, etc.), databases (SQL), and HTML development.
• Direct experience with Schneider Electric proprietary software such as Power Monitoring Expert, Power SCADA Expert, and Wonderware.
• The first 3-4 weeks involve training and safety classes (online), followed by on-the-job training, partnered with a peer. This will require more than typical overnight travel until candidates get the necessary experience.
• Job sites can change regularly or remain constant for long periods, depending upon client demand. Clients could include commercial, industrial, critical infrastructure, data center and government facilities.
• Mileage reimbursement or fleet/rental car vehicle options. (Good driving record required)
• Would consider senior-level Application Engineering candidates as well.
