Little More About Your Role

As a Civil Design Assurance Engineer working within the UK Energy business, you will be responsible for working as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering the power transmission infrastructure that will deliver Net Zero to the UK Energy System. WSP has a significant workload that will offer the opportunity to develop yourself and others over the next decade.

Responsibilities
  • Being appointed as a National Grid Civil Engineering Design Assurance Engineer (DAE*, formerly TP141). Not to be confused with Contractor's Design Approval Engineer (CDAE).
  • Working as part of our Design Assurance team, alongside our other HV Plant, Protection & Control, and Civil Engineering DAEs.
  • Fulfilling the role across multiple National Grid projects – from equipment replacements, new high voltage substations, to HVDC interconnectors.
  • Acting as a source of knowledge to the wider team on National Grid standards, processes, and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Extensive experience of foundation design, preferably in the power transmission and distribution space.
  • Detailed working knowledge of British codes and standards used within the Power sector.
  • Experience of working with CAD software such as Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Experience of delivering detailed design packages.
  • Experience of working with clients and contractors with a diverse range of objectives in achieving a technical solution.
  • If you have ever undertaken the formerly TP141 now BP141 role or have a high confidence of passing the approval process.
  • In depth knowledge of Civil Engineering & Construction for National Grid projects.
  • A Chartered Civil Engineer status would be desirable.
