Associate Facade Engineer (Fire Engineering)

A leading fire engineering consultancy is seeking an Associate Facade Engineer to join its Manchester office. This is a senior technical and strategic role focused on facade fire performance, external wall systems and regulatory compliance within the post-Building Safety Act landscape.
This appointment will play a key role in strengthening the consultancy’s facade fire capability across complex, high-profile developments.
The Role
You will lead facade fire engineering strategy across a broad portfolio including high-rise residential, commercial, mixed-use and large regeneration schemes.
The role combines deep technical expertise with leadership responsibility and client influence.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading external wall and facade fire compliance strategies
* Advising on cladding systems, cavity barriers, insulation materials and fire stopping
* Supporting Gateway submissions under the Building Safety Act regime
* Conducting and reviewing EWS1 assessments where required
* Interpreting and advising on Approved Document B, BS 8414, 135 and related standards
* Liaising with architects, facade consultants, contractors and regulators
* Reviewing fire modelling outputs relevant to facade performance
* Mentoring engineers and contributing to discipline growth
* Supporting fee proposals and business development initiatives
Requirements
* Extensive experience in facade engineering within a fire consultancy environment
* Typically 10+ years’ industry experience
* Degree qualified in Engineering, Fire Engineering or related discipline
* Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations and facade fire standards
* Proven experience delivering complex high-rise or large-scale projects
* Confident client-facing communicator
* Commercial awareness and ability to lead projects
Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is highly desirable.
