Mesa Associates is seeking a Project Manager to join our nuclear services team to support the commercial portfolio of projects. This position will serve as the primary point of contact with the customer and will be responsible for the successful execution of contracted engineering, design, and construction phase services for projects across multiple commercial nuclear plants. This position requires direct supervision on other project managers and project controls/scheduling personnel;
and provides strategic growth opportunity for increased responsibility as the profit center grows.
The position can be fully remote (depending on location) or hybrid (if local to the Chattanooga, TN area) working a minimum of 3 days in the office, typically Tuesday through Thursday, with the ability to work from home the remaining workdays.
Candidates must be able to travel to plant sites when needed (approx. 6‑8 days/month with ability to support longer durations).
- Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field (industrial, engineering, etc.) from an accredited university (
required
) - PMP certification or MBA (highly preferred) – or ability to obtain PMP certification within one year of employment (
required
) - Professional Engineer License (highly preferred)
- Minimum of 6 years’ industry experience with 4 years’ experience in managing diverse teams associated with engineering and design projects in nuclear (DOE or commercial) plants (

) - Experience working with multiple operating nuclear clients and vendors (highly preferred)
- On‑site and past unescorted access (highly preferred) or ability to obtain unescorted access at an operating or construction nuclear plant (

) - Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite). Additional software skills including Primavera P6, Microsoft Projects, or similar scheduling software (highly preferred)
- Experience in estimating and writing project proposals and managing engineering projects from proposal through closure phase.
- Experience with writing project schedules and associated project plans (risk management, execution plan, communications, etc.)
- Client interface and business development on assigned projects building relationships that foster partnership and lead to growing opportunities
- Proposals:
Defining project requirements, coordinating engineering and quality input into proposal, creating initial work and accounting breakdown structures (WBS/ABS), creating initial milestone schedules and task activities list, estimating, and resource planning. - Project Initiation:
