Job Summary and

Description:

The successful candidate will work across EPRI's Transmission Operations and Planning Group, a team of passionate power system researchers and modelers, and EPRI's Energy Systems and Climate Analysis Group, a team of leading energy systems modelers and climate economists. EPRI researchers have a strong track record tackling renewable and energy systems integration issues, energy sector decarbonization pathways, and related topical and structural issues with utilities, TSOs, government agencies, and partners worldwide.

You will lead and synthesize analysis on contemporary electric utility resource planning and operations topics and engage across a wide range of EPRI projects addressing growing industry interest in integrated generation, transmission, distribution, and end‑use system planning. Responsibilities include preparing slide decks, briefings, and reports; presenting research findings to diverse audiences; managing complex projects with matrixed staffing; and scoping new cross‑cutting research projects to address member and society needs.

EPRI offers opportunities to work with established experts in an innovative environment to tackle key research questions in collaboration with electric companies and government partners. You will have autonomy and control over your work hours, and a flexible work environment. You can choose to work remotely, in one of EPRI's offices, or a mix of the two.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate would have:

  • An advanced degree in engineering, science, economics, energy resources, computer science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Previous exposure to electric sector planning; unit commitment/economic dispatch, resource adequacy, transmission planning, generation planning, environmental compliance, or related topics.
  • Strong interest in solving energy and climate challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and lead cross‑functional teams and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Experience conducting quantitative analyses to support energy market, policy, or technology research projects.
  • Demonstrated experience scoping new research, leading proposal writing, and related development tasks.
  • Excellent research, writing, and oral communication skills; ability to present complex information clearly to varied audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • A positive, curious attitude; comfort working both collaboratively and independently.
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple responsibilities while collaborating with staff across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
  • Experience in academia, utilities, research institutes, or similar, with the ability to explain complex topics to those with less experience.
  • Familiarity with renewable and energy systems integration developments; experience conducting studies and presenting insights using relevant software tools.
  • Experience working in large, collaborative public projects.

Some travel is expected to support conferences, meetings, and member visits.
