Software Verification Engineer I (Entry Level)
Business Unit: Electrophysiology (EP)
Location: St. Paul, MN (Onsite)
Pay Rate: $30–$39/hour (based on experience)
Duration: 6-month contract with potential for extension and/or conversion based on performance
Start Date: ASAP (targeting 2–3 weeks including onboarding)
Relocation: Candidates willing to relocate at their own expense will be considered. Remote work permitted only for emergency situations.
Position OverviewWe are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Software Verification Engineer I to join a highly collaborative Software Verification team supporting innovative medical device technologies within the Electrophysiology (EP) business unit. This entry-level role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career engineers looking to build hands‑on experience in regulated software testing environments.
The engineer will contribute to verification activities supporting enhancements and new feature development for the Inside X Mapping system. This role offers structured onboarding, mentorship, and progressive responsibility from training and manual test execution to test development and design.
What You’ll Do- Participate in requirements analysis, test planning, and verification activities for software features and product enhancements
- Develop, document, and execute manual test cases in accordance with FDA regulatory and ISO quality standards
- Design and expand test suites for new functionality and system updates
- Perform dry runs and formal verification & validation (V&V) testing activities
- Set up and configure test equipment and system environments
- Identify, document, track, and support resolution of software defects
- Participate in requirements, design, and test reviews with cross‑functional teams
- Collaborate closely with Verification, R&D, Software Development, Regulatory, and Systems Engineering teams
- Maintain accurate documentation to support compliance and engineering decision-making
- Weeks 1–4: Structured training and product/application learning
- Months 2–3: Manual test execution and verification support
- By Day 90: Independently execute tests, understand system functionality, and contribute effectively to verification activities
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering (required)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Quick learner with strong attention to detail
- Understanding of software testing fundamentals or software development lifecycle concepts
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to explain technical skills and academic experience clearly during interviews
- Experience with Python or scripting languages
- Academic or internship experience involving software testing or validation
- Exposure to medical device development or regulated environments
- Familiarity with laboratory or electronic test equipment
