Sr. Mechanical Designer (Hybrid/Remote)

Our growing firm is looking for passionate problem-solvers driven to make a real impact: we're hiring a Sr. Mechanical Designer. The Mechanical team designs process and utility piping, pumps, and heat exchangers, process ventilation, and building HVAC and plumbing systems for agribusiness, industrial and commercial facilities.

The Sr. Designer (Piping) works with Engineers and Project Managers to prepare P&IDs, Piping 3D models, and isometrics with Bill of Materials, and assist during the construction support phase and acts as a primary technical contact on projects.

• Understand and convey scope, schedules and end-product needs to internal project team.
• Set up and prepare 3D models in Autodesk Plant 3D and piping isometrics to specified VAA/client CAD standards.
• Prepare 2D piping layout plans, sections and details as required.
• Review project documents for coordination with all disciplines to avoid and resolve conflicts.
• Participate in internal coordination meetings and client coordination meetings.
• Design and layout preliminary concepts in Revit 3D or Plant 3D as requested.
• Prepare and edit piping and valve specifications, coordinate with drawings, and review equipment shop drawings.
• Communicate with client and contractors regarding RFI's and field questions.
• Support project team in nurturing the client relationship.
• Provide direction and distribute work to technicians, designers and engineers.
• Mentor and train technical staff to produce high quality design services and deliverables.
• Perform a quality control review.
• Perform site visits as needed.

• Certificate in HVAC drafting or related courses and at least eight years of HVAC and plumbing design experience OR at least nine years of HVAC and plumbing design experience
• Experience leading mechanical design team on multi-discipline projects
• Proficiency in Revit 3D preferred; willingness and aptitude to learn quickly required.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Plant 3D preferred; willingness and aptitude to learn quickly required.

$36.00 - $60.00 A variety of factors are considered when determining an offer including, but not limited to, market data, geographic location, experience, and specialized skills.
