About

Your Role…

We are looking to appoint an Associate Director (Highway Engineering) into WSP's Liveable Places team. This role can be based from either our Leeds, London, Newcastle or Southampton offices with flexible working allowing for a mix of home and in‑office working.

You will be working within WSP's Liveable Places team - a collaborative team of circa 200 people working with a wide range of local authority and private clients from across the UK to help them achieve their place‑making ambitions. As an Associate Director within the team you will take the lead on delivering a wide range of schemes from concept to delivery - including public realm, active travel, traffic engineering, road safety, parking, traffic signals and pedestrian / traffic modelling.

  • Working directly with our clients to achieve their sustainable transport needs
  • Acting as Project Director or Project Manager on a wide range of projects whilst helping to grow and develop our work with clients
  • Staying informed about industry trends and best practice
  • Overseeing projects budget and financial performance
  • Undertaking technical preparation, review and checking of deliverables within the team
  • Working collaboratively with the Liveable Places team and our colleagues in the wider Mobility team and the wider WSP business to achieve our aims and objectives

The Liveable Places team is based in offices across the country with over 200 staff, currently making up the team with further growth planned. We enjoy our work and are exceptionally enthusiastic people who are great at what we do. We have a strong track record working closely with our clients and this role provides a great opportunity to have a pivotal role within Liveable Places and help support and steer its growth going forward.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate…
  • A civil engineering degree or equivalent
  • Chartered membership of a relevant professional body
  • Proven ability to lead and manage project teams and individuals
  • Proven ability to successfully deliver projects
  • Proven track record in project management and financial control
  • Passion for mentoring and developing talent
  • Highway, transport, traffic signals and road safety engineering experience
  • Excellent ability to engage with stakeholders including public sector officials, members of the public and other senior colleagues
