About the role

Join Connect Plus Services as an M&E Mechanical Technician Level 3 and play a key role in the safe and efficient operation of the Dartford River Crossing and M25 Tunnels. You will carry out planned maintenance, defect repairs, and other mechanical tasks as required by the Shift Manager, ensuring that all plant and equipment remain operational and compliant.

This role involves working across mechanical systems including pumps, fans, pipework, and other critical infrastructure, responding to both routine and emergency situations, and supporting the long‑term reliability of the network.

What you’ll be doing

You will operate mechanical plant across the Dartford River Crossing and M25 Tunnels under normal and emergency conditions, performing planned maintenance and defect repairs independently. You will read technical drawings, carry out fault finding, and complete all required records and reports.

The role involves civil and mechanical maintenance tasks within the scope of a Level 3 Mechanical Technician, driving vehicles for maintenance purposes, ensuring equipment and plant are ready for operational use, and attending incidents safely to facilitate hazard clearance. You will work collaboratively with the team, adhere to Health & Safety regulations, support sustainability initiatives, and live the Connect Plus Services Values

Who we’re looking for

We are seeking a skilled and safety‑conscious Mechanical Technician with a recognised mechanical qualification or apprenticeship. You will have practical experience in maintenance and repair of mechanical plant such as pumps, fans, and associated systems, and strong problem‑solving and fault‑finding skills.

Essential certifications and experience include:

  • CSCS Safety Card
  • MEWPS (Mobile Elevating Work Platforms)
  • Confined Spaces Training
  • G39 – Working in the vicinity of DNO equipment
  • Practical experience with welding, plumbing, and manufacturing using workshop machinery
  • Knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation

You will have excellent customer service skills, be able to work under pressure, communicate effectively at all levels, and operate confidently within a complex matrix structure. A collaborative team player approach is essential, along with a focus on Zero Harm and operational excellence.
