Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Buyer – Aerospace/Satellite to support procurement, subcontracting, and property management activities within a cleared defense and commercial space environment. This role is responsible for acquiring specialized goods and services ranging from commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware to complex, custom-built assemblies in support of satellite programs.

The ideal candidate has strong working knowledge of FAR/DFARS, DCMA Property Management requirements, and the full lifecycle of both procurement and government property. This position supports compliance with contractual obligations by ensuring proper acquisition, tracking, control, and accountability of government-furnished property (GFP) and company-owned property used on government and commercial space contracts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Source, evaluate, negotiate, and select suppliers that meet technical, quality, cost, delivery, and security requirements for satellite components
  • Collaborate with engineering, program management, quality, and security teams to understand technical requirements, material flow, and contract-driven procurement needs
  • Prepare, issue, and administer purchase orders and subcontracts in accordance with FAR/DFARS, contractual terms, and internal policies
  • Monitor supplier performance, resolve delivery or quality issues, and implement corrective actions as necessary
  • Maintain complete, auditable procurement documentation to support DCMA reviews, internal audits, and customer oversight
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in the aerospace or satellite industry
  • Knowledge of satellite components and systems, including experience working with suppliers of antennas, transponders, and communication modules preferred
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with key suppliers
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Position will require access to classified information, controlled unclassified information (CUI), and export-controlled data (ITAR/EAR). US citizenship and an active U.S. Government security clearance (Secret or higher) is required
Working Conditions
  • This position is located on-site in our Albuquerque, NM office. Remote work will not be possible except on an occasional basis
  • This position may require occasional travel to supplier facilities or project sites
  • The Buyer will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, logistics, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless procurement of satellite components
